Internal Plastering
Gypsum Plasters

In modern new build constructions, gypsum lightweight plasters are mainly used over various types of background such as concrete and Thermalite type blockwork walls as well as new brickwork for example, because they are easy to mix, have minimal risk of shrinkage and cracking, also they havequick setting and drying times. However, these lightweight plasterers are not always suitable for applying onto old masonry walls, as old walls may have become contaminated by rising or penetrating dampness or have chemical deposit within them, which would damage lightweight plaster and therefore such walls should be assessed for suitability

Cement and Lime Plasters

There are many pre-bagged branded products of cement based lime plasters available and we tend to use these types of plasters for renovation works such as in older buildings of historic and listed status, as well as using the traditional 1:1:6 cement/lime/sand mix

Sand and Cement Plaster

Sand and cement plaster, which is mixed in a drum mixer in ratio parts of sand with cement can be applied to various wall types and is used as a backing coat to straighten walls before receiving the finish coat plaster

Setting Coat Plastering

Setting coat plastering or “plaster skimming” as it is often termed is a method of providing a smooth and seamless surface over existing or new previously plastered walls and ceilings ready to receive new decorative finishes. It is also used in conjunction with mesh fibre tape over joints between plasterboards and when making good over historic cracks in ceiling and wall plasters, and applied at 2mm -3mm thick

Waterproof Plastering

We use a waterproof plaster mix, which would normally be a gauge of 1:3 sand and cement incorporating a liquid waterproofer and salt inhibitor as part of a scheme of remedial treatment for the control of dampness and salt migration following rising damp injection treatment for example

External Rendering

Traditionally, external rendering has been made from sand, cement with lime or a plasticiser and the function of the render applied to exterior walls is to reduce the amount of moisture that penetrates into the underlying masonry. It is also used aesthetically to enhance the appearance of plain masonry walls.

Tanking

The word tanking was born out of the industrial process of lining the external fabric (positive side) of below ground structures, such as basementswith an impervious barrier like asphalt or slate. This process is still carried out in new build construction today, but with advanced and technically superior sheet and spray applied materials. Internally (negative side) there are numinous waterproofing material (pre-batched or admixes) and application methods we use to achieving a Tanked waterproofing system, ranging from cementitious or liquid/spray applied coatings and sheet (cavity) membranes for example, but the choice of material and application method would depend on the situation being encountered. Such tanking works would normally be covered by our company 10 year guarantee, with the option of an independent insurance back-up guarantee.
